The eagle and the Rabbit

The golden eagle - National Symbol of Mexico The Golden Eagle is one of the largest, fastest, nimblest raptors in North America. Lustrous gold feathers gleam on the back of its head and neck; a powerful beak and talons advertise its hunting prowess. You're most likely to see this eagle in western North America, soaring on steady wings or diving in pursuit of the jackrabbits and other small mammals that are its main prey. Sometimes seen attacking large mammals, or fighting off coyotes or bears in defense of its prey and young, the Golden Eagle has long inspired both reverence and fear. Population in Europe: The biggest populations in Europe are in the Alps, Scotland, Scandinavia and Spain. The population in the Alps is around 1,200 breeding pairs and seems to be stable. In Bavaria, the breeding success was quite low during the last decades and the population of about 50 pairs has been stable mostly because of eagles from Austria or Switzerland moving to Bavaria. In recent years, the breeding success has improved in some areas in Bavaria due to conservation programs (for example by trying to reduce disturbance at the nest sites). The British population, which lives almost entirely in Scotland is about 442 according to the RSPB [RSPB 2008]. In Scandinavia there are about 1,700 - 2,000 pairs [Mebs & Schmidt 2006]. In Spain, there are about 1,440 pairs [SEO 2007] This picture was taken during my 2 days adventure in Buseu a lost village in the spanish pyrenees.

Cheetas Paradise

A world without wild animals is like a sea without water. I like animals and nature more than the most people. People who don´t like animals and nature are not my friends, because mostly they don´t care about our beautiful world. What about predators? I think the most evil predators are human beeings. People who care about life and nature never would start a war! Iam happy that many people think so and start a war without weapons against the greed of mankind. We are guests on this wonderful planet.... never forget this!

Desert Lights

This shot is a combination of several exposures. The Bardenas Reales is a semi-desert natural region, or badlands, of some 42,000 hectares (100,000 acres) in southeast Navarre (Spain). The soils are made up of clay, chalk and sandstone and have been eroded by water and wind creating surprising shapes, canyons, plateaus, tabular structures and isolated hills, called cabezos. Bardenas lacks urban areas, vegetation is scarce and the many streams that cross the territory have a markedly seasonal flow, staying dry most of the year.

Beautiful Biskaya

Next to Gaztelugatxe Gaztelugatxe is a small Island on the coast of the Biscay. Bermeo, Basque Country (Spain). On the Island stands a hermitage. The bridge to the Island is handmade. The small church, 80 metres above sea level, dates from the 10th century. In the year 1053 it was donated, by don Íñigo López, Lord of Biscay, to the monastery of San Juan de la Peña near Jaca in Huesca. Medieval burials from the 9th and 12th centuries have been found on the esplanade and in the hermitage. In 1593 it was attacked and sacked by Francis Drake. Among other incidents, it has caught fire several times. On November 10, 1978, it was destroyed in one such fire. Two years later, on June 24, 1980, it was re-inaugurated. The hermitage belongs to the parish of San Pelayo in Bakio. The hermitage also houses votive offerings from sailors who survived shipwrecks.
